CBD oil tinctures are the most common products used to administer CBD sublingually. However, CBD pastes are also an extremely effective way of absorbing the cannabinoid, sublingually.
Why is it more effective?
As oil and water don’t mix, ingesting CBD oil with a drink means that it isn’t fully absorbed. What’s more, when digested and passed through the liver, the CBD is partly metabolised before being absorbed into the blood. This is known as the ‘First Pass’ effect.
The First Pass effect further reduces the amount of viable substance being absorbed effectively.
Taking CBD sublingually allows you to bypass the First Pass effect, giving you a more powerful end-result.
Oil tinctures and pastes may also be added to drinks and infused into foods. However, these methods aren’t thought to be as effective.
